Below Grade B-School Students Out In Bitter Stage

Low Grade B-School Students Left Behind
The economic gloom has clouded the average B-Schools with fewer companies visiting the campuses this placement season. The packages offered are exhibiting a drop by more than 30%. The placement season at B-Schools commenced in October-November last year, but by far these schools have been able to place only 30-50% of the total students. As a result, some B-Schools this time have asked the students to hurt for a job on their own.

Sources from Asia Pacific Institute of Management revealed that the institute has 220 students to place against an intake capacity of 300. But till now only 57% of the students have been placed. This year only 3 banks have visited the campus. Last year, ICICI extended maximum number of offers (42 students) but this year it did not even participate in the placement process of the institute. The institute also revealed that the annual salary packages have declined this year Rs 5 Lakh to 3.5 lakh per annum.

The Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida has been able to place only 30% of its students by far this year. It has a batch of 106 students against an intake capacity of 180 students. The institute is putting all efforts to place all its students by March.

Sources from Galgotias Business School revealed that companies are extending mostly sales profiles to the students. The companies are offering an average annual pay package of almost 2.4 lakhs per annum. KIAMS- Kirloskar Instittue of Advanced Management Studies, based in Pune is striving hard to attract recruiters from major sectors such as FMCG, IT and Pharma. It could place only 50% of the total of 122 students till now with much difficulty. By far only 20 companies have visited the campus and those visiting the campus are hiring very less number of students.
