Private Schools Of Haryana To Beam Strike On Feb24

Almost a number of 10,000 private schools of Haryana will remain closed on February 24 in protest against the state government's directive to impart free education to 25% below poverty line (BPL) students.

The president of Haryana Private Schools Association Jitendar Singh Lathar said on Monday that “The government's order is impractical, illogical and unjustifiable. Why should the other 75% bear the burden of 25%?”. He said that to bear the expenses, the schools would have to increase their fees which would be too exorbitant to be afforded by the parents.

Lathar said the government should find some solution to resolve the issue and pay the fee of 25% from the state exchequer.

However, he said “Instead of providing assistance to the private schools, the government is burdening them to the extent that many of them shall have to face closure”.
