MOC Parliament At Galgotia University
India's leading University, Galgotias University organized its First Youth Parliament at its campus Greater Noida. The Agenda raised in the session was” FREEDOM IN INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING with respect to ARTICAL 19 OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION”.

The Chief Guest was Mr. Abhinav Shukla, Director, and Greater Valley School. More than 15 Colleges participated like JSS Academy, GL Bajaj, Jaypee College, Law College Dehradun, Sharda University, Galgotias University & Roorkee Engineering and Management Technology Institute The session started at 9:30 A.M with National anthem and ended at 3:30 P.M.

On this occasion, Mr. Dhuv Galgotia, CEO, Galgotia University said, “Galgotias Youth Parliament was organized for the students to create awareness among the students about the parliamentary affairs. This will also encourage today’s youth to join politics. We will try to organize the Youth Parliament from time to time so that students can draw best benefits out of it.”

The event was organized as an attempt to encourage amongst the Youth a genuine concern towards the socio economic issues of the nation. The session also generated awareness and practical knowledge regarding the legislative proceedings at parliamentary level. The Moc Parliament started in the same way as it happens in Parliament. It was divided in two parts. The session started with oath taking ceremony by the speaker. Same as in parliament the Question session ended for 20 minutes. Then the speaker decided the agenda of the session. Hot discussion on the freedom of Social networking cites also took place.

The chance to put forward their view was given to all the constituencies. No one was allowed to intervene in between. During the discussion, each member was allowed to ask only questions from the respective ministries. The Session was hi-tech as each constituencies were allowed to carry Tablet, through which they even casted their votes on certain issues. At around 3:30 P.M, the speaker announced the closing of the session. 200 hundred students participated in the MOC Parliament.

The Moc parliament was a very successful session as the Leader of houses; speaker and leader of opposition were quietly putting forward their views. Even the questions were put forward in peaceful manner. This Youth Parliament was a simulation of Indian Lok Sabha where the participants represented constituencies of their choice as Member of Parliament. There was a parliamentary debate and discussion over a preset agenda. The debate covered intensively –‘the recent row over censorship issues in between the ministry of Information & Broadcasting and various social networking websites’. At this occasion, Ms. Vinni Mathur, Head of students affair, Galgotia University and members of management were also present.
