The officials of CBSE has revealed that the board has plans to introduce a model within a month which will be used to accredit the schools. The model will serve as tool to check the functioning of schools in seven different domains. The domains include scholastic, co-scholastic, infrastructural areas, human resources, management and administration, leadership and beneficiary satisfaction.
The sources also announced that this new system will symbolize quality assurance. The system will allow the schools to evaluate themselves on different parameters of school excellence and then improve depending on the quality enhancement report generated thereafter.
The basic criteria of judging school quality excellence assigns 25% weightage of scholastic areas, 15% to co-scholastic areas, 15% to infrastructural areas, 10% to human resources, 10% to management and administration, 15% to leadership and 15% to beneficiary satisfaction. The Board has developed parameters for school quality accreditation which is the first step of school education accreditation.
This new accreditation system is not to grade the schools but will provide an opportunity to schools for self-enhancement. But whether the school has been accredited or not, will be displayed on the CBSE website. The board has formed a panel of 12 agencies to conduct the accreditation process. The assessment and accreditation will ensure about the right quality of schools to parents and stakeholders. The schools affiliated to CBSE Board will have to apply for the accreditation.
