Increased Intakes In IIMs. Hurry!!
CAT results are out, and its finally the time for admissions. Most of the Indian Institutes of Managements (IIM) have come across a decision to increase their intake of students this year. Among the 13 IIMs in India, the new IIMs have decided to give admissions to more students in the year 2012. This can be said as the way of increased chances of many students who have qualified CAT 2011 to get into IIMs.

It is found that big increase in number of seats were witnessed in IIM Tiruchirapalli, Raipur and Udaipur, where IIM Raipur is in its third year of establishment will be expanding its batch size for the first time from 70-120. IIM Udaipur and IIM Tiruchirapalli will also increase its batch intake to 120. This is likely to be the second batch for both the IIMs.

 

As per the records, among the 6 older IIMs, Kozhikode will be increasing the number of seats. The sources revealed that in the year 2011, IIM Kozhikode had proposed the intake of 300 whereas the number of students admitted was around 328. For this year, it is quietly aiming to increase its intakes to 380-390.

IIM Rohtak will only round off its intake from 124 to 130. IIM Calcutta is to hike intakes to 460 whereas IIM Ranchi is yet to decide on its number of intakes this year. However, bigger IIMs such as Lucknow, Bangalore and Shillong will continue with their previous intakes. Nearly 1.85 lakh applicants had taken part in CAT 2011 entrance exam, out of which IIM Bangalore is said to have registered the largest number of participants.
