41 Independent Agencies To Monitor SSA
At New Delhi, 41 independent agencies of National repute have been engaged on a two yearly basis to monitor the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) programme. These MI's submit reports on half yearly basis. These reports are shared with the State Project Directors of SSA of the States/ Union Territories (UT's) for appropriate remedial action.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is Government of India's Flagship Programme for achievement of Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE) in a time bound manner. SSA is being implemented in partnership with State Governments to cover the entire country and address the needs of 192 million children in 1.1 million habitations.

Besides, the Institute of Public Authors of India (IPAI), an independent agency has also been engaged for concurrent financial review to cover all the Status/ UT’s. It submits reports to this ministry annually, which are shared with the concerned States/ UT's for taking necessary corrective action.

In addition, SSA conducts third party evaluation through independent agencies for the civil works taken up in the State/ UT's . All these information’s were announced by the Minister of State for Human Resource Dr. D. Purandeshwari as a reply for a question asked in Lok Sabha.

SSA seeks to provide quality elementary education including life skills. SSA has a special focus on girl's education and children with special needs and to provide computer education to bridge the digital divide.
