AICTE To Accept New Engineering College Proposals

AICTE To Accept New Engg Colleges
All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has decided not to refuse proposals of new Engineering colleges. Earlier, some state governments had requested AICTE to reject the proposals for new engineering colleges as large number of seats were lying vacant in the existing engineering colleges.

AICTE, however, expressed its disapproval towards this plea as it would increase the monopoly of the existing engineering colleges. As a result, AICTE has decided to accept and approve the proposals of new engineering colleges. Regarding this, the sources from AICTE have revealed that if a college meets the required criteria, then one has no right to stop it from commencing. AICTE considers opening of new colleges to be a vital element for maintaining healthy competition since it will ensure that colleges that lack in imparting quality education will slowly vanish out with time.

In addition, AICTE holds the view that engineering colleges offering quality education will always be in demand and will never have vacant seats. AICTE has also recommended the state governments to perform a study on demand which says, 'Supply Equation Between The Number Of Seats And The Students'.
