Andhra Pradesh Board Of Intermediate Education (APBIE) is standardizing the intermediate education system of the state by adopting effective measures. The objectives of the board are diversified but aims to promote and develop the education. However, the significant functions are to suggest curriculum and syllabus, preparation and publication of text books, recognize and administer junior colleges, conduct examinations at recognized institutions and give certificates to the successful candidates. The board conducts annual examination once in a year at the pre-determined dates.

Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh offers a range of academic programmes to promote education and identify the talents among youths. The curriculum and syllabus are structured from time to time to meet the changing trends of the Intermediate education system. To perform its power and duties consistently, the board has established a head office and regional offices at various parts of the state.

The Audio Visual Education Cell, formed in 1987 under the board, is an active and effective body responsible to supervise and co-ordinate various agencies in promoting Intermediate school students in the form of audio visual cassettes. The Andhra Pradesh Board Of Intermediate Education also imparts vocational education with collaborative arrangements to create opportunity to earn while learning.
