AICTE To Conduct Common Management Admission Test

CMAT To Be Conducted By AICTE
All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) is planning to conduct a “Common Management Admission Test (CMAT)” for admissions to management courses in India. It is expecting to conduct CMAT around 20th February to 28th February 2012. Around 2,50,000 students are expected to take part in the Online test.

CMAT is a Common Management Admission Test that is approved by AICTE, which wants to reduce the burden on students by taking many state and University level exams. It is ensured that through CMAT scores, it is possible to get admissions in around 5000 colleges in India. It is quite similar to MAT exam, but MAT is for admissions to B-Schools.

Apart from CAT, CMAT is expected to be the one which wipes out all other state level and national level based entrance exams. The organisation to hold up CMAT has not yet been decided, but will be announced soon. There shall be a centre to inform the details of the exam. All queries regarding CMAT such as Test format, Seat allotment and other queries will be answered at the same centre itself.

In order to decide the centre, AICTE has invited tenders from all interested companies and service providers. Though the AICTE is determined to conduct CMAT, the answer for 'Is CMAT a boon or bane for students and Management education' is still in question.
