MAT Scores beats CAT in enormous way

MAT to be valued more than CAT scores
Over a decade ago, when Entrance Exams started sprouting out in the education field, it was a crowded one, and the Common Admission Test (CAT) was just an institution or an unquestionable leader any how. It just acted to be a passport for most of the elite Indian Institute of Management's (IIM's) that conducted entrance tests. The CAT scores were accepted by more than 150 other Indian and Foreign Management Schools .

In the mean time when Management Aptitude Test (MAT) was introduced and conducted by All-India Management Association the competition steadily inched closer in the fight of Pole-position, and MAT however has upstaged over CAT . This is an real threat, although some top institutes like the Indian Institute of Technology's, Indian Institute of Science, FMS and MICA have signed up to accept CAT-2011 scores, 58 B-Schools across India have adopted this year. The progress of this act has led to huge variations in number of colleges accepting CAT and MAT Scores . The total number of colleges that have retained CAT to admit students is 155, and MAT totally of 1,800 .

Most colleges after receiving an approval from All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has opted for a test that suited the students profile. For instance the top colleges went-in for the tougher CAT while those in the middle rung for MAT .

Note : The factor in this CAT and MAT competition is that the former is more expensive than the latter. To be a part of the CAT group, a B-School must shell out a registration fee of Rs.2 Lakh and another Rs.200/- for verifying each score card, where as MAT registration is only Rs.50,000/- .
Hari Krishna Maram, the member of Governing Council at AIMA said Though many colleges prefer MAT over CAT, as it is conducted four times a year as against the latter MAT is conducted only in November and December . And all the colleges that accept CAT Scores (except the 13 II's) also use MAT Scores .

When pointing out the rate of MAT and CAT, the number of colleges accepting MAT Scores is going up by 8% every year . All regards can be given to the new B-Schools that are emerging all round in the country. With hundred's of new Management Colleges coming up in the future, the popularity of battle between CAT and MAT Entrance Exams is likely to get more furious .
