OBC admissions on rise
With high cut-offs marks set for admissions to the popular courses in Delhi University(DU), many students are trying to get in by hook or by crook. It is believed that, the DU colleges are facing a lot difficulty in verifying the original OBC certificates.

It has been reported that a girl wanted to take admission in BSc. (honours) Statistics had produced fake documents of her father's income and tried to grab a seat in Hindu College. She has been denied to take admission , but such incidents prove that the candidates have become desperate to take admissions and are adopting all possible tricks to get a seat.

Also, it has been alarming for the government. If the government has made the provision for reservation, it should also make a fool-proof mechanism to ensure fake certificates are not issued.

Many other colleges have been facing such trouble of fake reservation certificate. While the university scrutinizes the certificates of SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates, admission under the OBC quota is the responsibility of colleges. The colleges send the certificates to the university administration for scrutiny after the admission process is over.

This year, OBC admissions have increased significantly, in comparison to last year. The off-campus colleges, have also noted increase in OBC admissions than last year.
