JEE toppers sought adm's in IIT-Bombay
The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology- Joint Entrance Examination ( IIT-JEE), which declared its result by the end of the May also reveals one more thing that Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) is the favourite destination for most of the JEE toppers.

The online Counselling for IIT-JEE candidates is conducted by IIT-Kanpur on behalf of other IITs. The counselling is done online. The first allotment of seats supports the fact completely that IIT-Bombay is one of the most prefered institute among top all-India rankers in JEE. Nearly 70 of the top 100 scorers have sought and received admission to IIT-B.

About 710 students have also opted for IIT-B, closely followed by IIT-Delhi, where some 654 students from the open category have taken admission. The popularity of IIT- B is not new, it has been happening for some years now. Last year also most of the the top ten candidates in JEE opted for IIT-B.However, this year, the first five toppers have chosen the institute. But, other students are equally meritorious.

It is believed that the popularity of IIT-B owes to a very cosmopolitan environment that it offers. The institute's academic calender and some of its extra curricular activities also attract the students. And the most important fact that makes IIT-B so popular is its placements and the institute itself is a brand name.

A total of 13,197 candidates had qualified for IIT JEE-2011 counselling (seat allocation). Of them, 9,319 were allotted seats and 3,878 candidates did not get a seat due to various reasons.
