Student visa relaxed for Australia, yet
Australia as a study abroad destination is not doing well with huge downfall reported in the number of Indian students enrollment. This is due to the reports that displayed a lot of protest triggered against Australia due to racial attacks made on Indian students. Also, the immigration law were made strict for Indian students.

The Australian Universities witnesses a sharp fall in the number of enrollments as compared with the last year. Indian students continue to be a serious reason for the downturn in Australian international education export industry. India was the second largest source of international students for Australia. Even though India has maintained its second position, there has been a drastic decline in numbers. Two other South Asian countries, Nepal (down 19 percent) and Sri Lanka (17 percent), have also followed India in the downward spiral.

Even though the Australian immigration department has relaxed student visa rules for India from 2 April 2011, the industry is yet to experience the kind of 'gold rush' as before the laws were tightened.
