Very few online exam takers for AIEEE-2011

By Kamalika Bhattacharya

For the first time, All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) 2011, which is being scheduled on 1 May, 2011, will be conducted through online mode. CBSE expected that students will surely opt for the online mode in maximum number. But, almost all the students except 4900 have opted for paper-pencil based test.

CBSE had announced that one lakh students will be allowed to take the exam online on first-come-first-served basis in 20 cities with a capacity of 5,000 per city. But, the response was lukewarm.Far from the expected mad rush that the CBSE had predicted, just about 4,900 candidates have signed up for AIEEE computer based test. The old fashioned paper-pencil mode is still much popular among many students.

It is assumed that about 11.13 Lakh students will take up AIEEE 2011 Paper-Pencil based test on 1 May, 2011. It has been noticed that in comparison to last year there is 3 percent rise in applications this year.
