Counselling can help to fight stress

With annual examinations and entrance tests round the corner, students are often found stressed out. Recently, a Class 12 girl student committed suicide after answering the chemistry paper in the board examination. The fear of poor academic performance is claiming lives of young students.

After this incidence, Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat immediately called a cabinet meeting and approved Rs.1.14 crore to set up campus counselling centres in government schools and state-aided schools.

The cabinet approved setting up of counselling centres for students who are victims of stress. These centres will be handled by empanelled non-government organisations who will counsel students in need.Each organization will be paid Rs.15,000 monthly for their services.
