Mechanical engineering emerged as a field during the industrial revolution in Europe.Mechanical Engineering accelerates the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production and operation of machines and tools.

Eligibility:
Mechanical engineering demands a vast understanding of core concepts like mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, and structural analysis. The mechanical engineers should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering.The aspirants need to meet the changing needs of commercial and industrial markets.Most mechanical engineering programs require varying amounts of research or community projects to gain practical problem-solving experience. Personal skills like effective communication and ability to find solutions are widely appreciated in this field.

Courses:
Degrees in mechanical engineering are offered at various universities worldwide.In India, Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree takes four years of full time study.To qualify for this degree you need to pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. While Post graduation degree consumes another two years followed by bachelors degree.For higher studies, one can go for M.E and Ph. D program.

Career Scope in Mechanical Engineering:
Mechanical engineers are expected to constantly improve, re-design and invent equipment, not just maintain and process.There are excellent job prospects available for mechanical engineers in private as well as public sectors. As a mechanical engineer you could become involved in design, manufacture, research, development, management or marketing. Recruitment for mechanical engineers is often done by the PSUs like BHEL, BPCL, DRDO, GAIL, Indian Oil, NTPC etc.Even software giants and Construction organizations hire mechanical engineers.

Remuneration:
Generally, a mechanical engineer can start with a salary of Rs.15000. Bigger and better companies can put across lucrative offer as your experience multiplies with time. The software giants always present hefty pay packages.
