1,000 foreign students apply for admission at Nalanda University

NU receives applications from foreign students

More than 1,000 students from 40 countries have applied for admission at Nalanda University.

According to the university admissions scheduled dates, academic session will commence from September 1, 2014.

University will open admissions in School of Historical Sciences and School of Environment and Ecology.

The varsity has received applications from the students of US, Russia, England, Spain. Germany, Japan, Myanmar, Austria, Sri Lanka, West Asian and South Asian countries.

"This year only 20 students will be selected in each of two schools," the official said.

Six faculty members, each for the two schools have been appointed. They are from New Zealand, England, the US, Singapore and other countries.

Nalanda University offers courses in science, philosophy, spirituality and social sciences.

M Phil and Ph.D degree courses will be offered across seven schools: Historical Studies, Ecology and Environment Studies, Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions, Linguistics and Literature, International Relations and Peace Studies, Information Science and Technology and Economics and Management.
