'National Awards to Teachers 2022' to be given to 46 school teachers on this Teacher's Day

President Droupadi Murmu is going to give away National Awards to Teachers 2022 on the occasion of National Teachers Day on September 5, 2022. 46 meritorious teachers have been selected for the honour through a rigorous selection process.

On every 5th of September (Teachers Day), meritorious teachers from across the country are honoured for their contribution to enriching the lives of students and improving the quality of school education.

National Awards to Teachers 2022: Winners List

2 among these 46 awardees are differently-abled teachers, one from Uttarakhand and the other from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. They get the recognition under the 'Special Category'.

The award - comprising a medal, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹ 50,000 - is given away by the Indian President since 1958 at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan.

Is there no awards for college teachers in India?

Well, there is. Sort of. The name is "Inspired Teacher"

The "Inspired Teacher" honour was established by the Indian President in 2015 to recognize top-performing faculties at the Central Universities.

One faculty member from every Central Universities is selected for this honour through parameters such as student feedback, teaching quality, and research output analyses.

The winners are invited to stay in the Rashtrapati Bhavan and make their ideas known to top bureaucrats on educational policy matters.
