The State Bank of India (SBI) Probationary Officers (PO) exam is one amongst the highly anticipated competitive examinations. The SBI PO preliminary examination kick-started on July 1 and is all set to be held on the 7th and 8th of this month. The preliminary exam consists of three sections, namely, reasoning ability, numerical ability and English language. A total of 100 questions are to be answered in one hour. There is 0.25 negative marking and each question carries one mark.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis: Quantitative Aptitude
The quantitative aptitude, which is an intimidating section to many aspirants, has not troubled the aspirants much with its tricky questions. Candidates who have attempted at least 19 questions can consider this as a good attempt.
If you are getting a score between 17 and 21, assume that you in a safe position. The data interpretation questions seem to be easy in slot 4 but tough in slot 2. Hence, one can consider this section to be moderate.
SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis: English Language
The English language section seems to be tougher compared to the Junior Associate exam which took place on June 30. Candidates found phase replacement a bit time-consuming though it's difficulty was at a moderate level.
Though there is less weightage for reading comprehension, aspirants have done well in connecting sentences and sentence starters. If you have scored more than 16 marks in this section, excluding the negative marking, you are on the safe side.
SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis: Reasoning Ability
Aspirants, who always consider this section as a scoring one, found difficulty in attempting it because of the lengthy questions. The question paper has surprised the test-takers with more than 15 questions on puzzles and seating arrangement.
Aspirants found it easy to answer question based on coding & decoding, blood relation and data sufficiency. If your score is between 14 and 17, assume that you have chances of clearing the exam.
SBI PO 2018 Cut-off
The sectional cut-off for the general candidates will be 8.5 for the English language, 12 for quantitative aptitude and 7 for reasoning ability. While coming to OBC candidates, 3.5 for reasoning ability, 5.5 for the English language and 7 for quantitative aptitude are the expected cut-offs.
The overall cut-off for the SBI PO preliminary will be between 51 and 55 for general candidates. For OBC, it will be between 52 and 48. However, for SC and ST candidates, it will be between 43 and 47 and 31 and 35 respectively. This is only the expected cut-offs; however, the actual cut-offs may vary depending on various factors.
