The long wait for the State Bank recruitment is over! SBI, which is a government-owned corporation, has released a recruitment notification for 2000 Probationary Officers. The recruitment advertisement was released on Saturday, i.e., 21st April and contains all the details including the backlog vacancies, eligibility criteria, age limit, exam pattern, etc.
SBI has started accepting applications for the recruitment and the last date to apply is May 13, 2018. Undeniably, the competition will be huge for the vacancies in SBI. The number of applicants are also expected to increase this year. Around 30 lakh candidates will apply for the SBI PO 2018. As the success ratio is very less for the SBI recruitment, we have decided to provide all the inputs prior to your application process.

SBI PO Exam Pattern
The selection process for SBI will be done through a three-tiered process that consists of a preliminary examination, a main examination and group exercises & an interview.
Phase-I Preliminary Examination

Phase-II Main Examination
Candidates will be selected for the main examination based on the merit list which will be drawn based on the aggregate marks scored in the preliminary round. Approximately, ten times the number of vacancies in each category will be qualified for taking the SBI main examination.

The main examination consists of an objective test for 200 marks followed by a descriptive test for 50 marks. The descriptive test will be conducted for 30 minutes with two questions for 50 marks. It will be a test of letter writing and essay writing. There will be a penalty for every wrong answer. However, there will be no negative marking if no answer is marked.
Candidates will be called for a group exercise and interview based on the merit in the main examination. Approximately, three times the number of vacancies in each category will be called for the group exercises and interview.
Phase-III Group Exercises & Interview
The group exercises are conducted for 20 marks and an interview for 30 marks. The marks obtained in the phase-II, i.e., the main examination and group exercises & interview are only considered for the final merit list. The marks secured in main examination are converted to 75 and marks in group exercises and interview are converted to 25 marks, adding up to 100 marks.
SBI PO Number of Attempts
SBI has kept a restriction on the number of attempts. For general candidates, maximum of four chances are allowed in their career. For general (PWD) and OBC, seven attempts are allowed. And there is no restriction for the number of attempts for SC/SC (PWD)/ST/ST (PWD) candidates.
SBI PO Training & Career Path
At the time of joining, a candidates has to execute a bond for a value of Rs 2 lakhs for serving at least three years. All the selected candidates will be designated as Probationary Officers for two years. During the probation period, they will be assessed and those who qualify in the assessment only qualify for the post of Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). Candidates who secure higher standards may achieve the post of Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II).
SBI, which stands on top in the banking industry, provides immense opportunities that include posting abroad. The promotion policy will be based on merit. Candidates who have immense skills can reach the top management grade within no time. And the best example is Arundhati Bhattacharya, who joined as a Probationary Officer and served as Chairman of SBI.
