Ladies and gentlemen,
I am privileged to have the opportunity to stand before you today on this very special day of August 15th where we join together to celebrate the liberation anniversary of our beautiful country after years of struggle and sacrifice. It is also a day to look to the future and past at the same time.

On this auspicious occasion of India's Independence Day, we stand in awe of the remarkable journey our nation has undertaken. As we celebrate our 77th year of freedom, let us reflect on the extraordinary achievements that define our great nation.
First and foremost, we must pay tribute to the incredible sacrifice of our freedom fighters. They fought tirelessly, facing unimaginable hardships, to secure our freedom from colonial rule. Their indomitable spirit, unwavering courage, and relentless dedication have paved the way for the vibrant democracy we cherish today.
Yes, India is the world's largest democracy, a shining example of unity in diversity. Our commitment to democratic values has withstood the test of time, and our citizens' active participation in the democratic process continues to shape the destiny of our nation.
In 2023 people of India were gifted with a new Parliament building. This Sansad Bhawan reflects our commitment to modernity while preserving our rich heritage. It's a symbol of progress, inclusivity, and forward-thinking governance. But our journey doesn't end there. We've risen to new heights in technology, with remarkable achievements in space exploration and nuclear programs. Our scientists at ISRO and other research institutions have made us proud with groundbreaking missions, putting India on the global map of space exploration and satellite technology. Our Chandrayaan is on the way to land on Moon very soon. India is now among the few nations having a presence on the moon.

The Green Revolution transformed us from a food-deficient nation to a self-sufficient one. We overcame the challenges of feeding a growing population, setting an example of agricultural innovation that continues to inspire the world. A large section of Indian youth is moving towards agriculture as a full-time career. As of 10th April 2023, there are around 374 DPIIT-recognized startups in the agriculture industry spread across 490 districts, employing around 38,000 people. Additionally, there are about 2207 DPIIT-recognized startups in the Agri-Tech industry spread across 360 districts, employing more than 18,000 people.
India's emergence as an economic power is a testament to our resilience and entrepreneurial spirit. We're making our mark in various sectors, contributing to global trade, and becoming a hub of innovation and manufacturing. According to the data provided by India Invest, our nation has emerged as the 3rd largest ecosystem for startups globally with over 99,000 DPIIT-recognized startups across 670 districts of the country as of 31st May 2023.
Sanitation and cleanliness have taken center stage, with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. We're working towards a cleaner, healthier India, ensuring that our citizens have access to proper sanitation facilities and clean surroundings. The Government has selected 100 smart cities as part of the Smart Cities Mission. These cities are being developed with a 360-degree approach. And finally, Vision 5050 - our roadmap for the future. It envisions a developed India where every citizen enjoys the benefits of progress and where we strive for equality, sustainability, and innovation in all aspects of life. According to industry experts, by 2050, the current pace of developments is turning the nation into a US$28-30 trillion-dollar economy.
As we celebrate our achievements, let us remember that our journey is far from over. We must remain committed to the principles that make us proud as a nation - justice, liberty, and equality. We must continue to work towards a better India, an India where every individual's dreams can flourish, and where the ideals of our freedom fighters continue to guide us.
