From Miss India To Civil Service: Meet Aishwarya Sheoran, Who Quit Modelling And Cracked UPSC In First Attempt

Aishwarya stated she took a break from her modelling profession to prepare for the UPSC exam. It had always been the model's ambition to work as an IAS officer. She cleared the UPSC in 2019 in the first attempt.

Former Miss India finalist and model Aishwarya Sheoron, who achieved her dream of cracking UPSC, secured 93rd rank in the Civil Service Exam 2019. Aishwarya was one of the 829 candidates that qualified for the Union Public Service Commission's (UPSC) Civil Services Examinations, which include the IAS, IPS, and IFS.

Miss India Quits Modelling And Becomes IFS Officer

Aishwarya's journey began with her winning the Delhi Times Fresh Face beauty competition. She was then asked to compete in Miss India, and her modelling career began from there. According to the Times of India report, Aishwarya stated "My mother named me Aishwarya after Bollywood actress and Miss World in 1994, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan because she wanted me to become Miss India, and I was eventually chosen in the top 21 finalists for Miss India."

Aishwarya Quit Modelling To Crack UPSC

When asked how she got into modelling, she stated, "The Delhi Times Fresh Face 2014 was unquestionably my launchpad. They wanted me to compete in Miss India after that, so the steps kept arriving one after the other, and I travelled down the path that brought me into the modelling world."

Aishwarya Cleared UPSC In First Attempt

Aishwarya did not enrol in any exam preparation classes or coaching. She cleared the UPSC civil services exam in 2019 in the first attempt. When questioned about it, she replied, "In order to concentrate on the exam, I had to turn off my phone, social media, and everything else, to get this result. But it's not as if I've suddenly generated interest in studies. I was always a hard-working and studious girl."

Aishwarya Was A Bright, Studious Girl

Aishwarya Sheoran studied in Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri and achieved 97.5 percent in Class 12. She was the head girl at her school and went on to Sri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi to pursue further education. She was also selected in IIM Indore but didn't take admission as she was focused on cracking the UPSC exam.

Colonel Ajay Kumar, her father, is the Commanding Officer of the NCC Telangana Battalion in Karimnagar. She further mentioned, "I decided to pursue civil service in order to provide variety in my family, with the ultimate goal of serving the country. Women have options to grow in the army, although they are still limited. There are no limits to what a woman can achieve in the civil service."
