He is the son of the late Madhavrao Scindia, a veteran parliamentarian, and Madhavi Raje Scindia. After completing his schooling in India, he continued his higher education in the United States, earning degrees from globally renowned universities.

He entered active politics in 2002, winning the Lok Sabha by-election from the Guna constituency following the demise of his father, Madhavrao Scindia.

Political Career

Jyotiraditya Scindia has represented both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha during his parliamentary career.

He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2002, and was subsequently re-elected in 2004, 2009 and 2014 from the Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh. During the UPA government, he served as Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, and later Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Power.

In 2020, Scindia was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh. Following the Union Cabinet expansion in July 2021, he took charge as the Minister of Civil Aviation. Between July 2022 and May 2024, he served as the Minister of Steel.

After the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he was elected from the Guna parliamentary constituency and, on June 9, 2024, assumed office as the Union Cabinet Minister for Communications and Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in the current Union government.
