Women’s Day 2021: Challenging Gender Inequality

Gender Inequality

A woman is said to be the representation of love, versatility, strength, and beauty. In spite of the fact that her existence should be praised every day yet, we have International Women's Day dedicated to her to mark her contributions. This day is also acknowledged to make everyone aware of women's rights and gender equality. It has always been observed that males have had more advantages in comparison to females in every sphere of life. But this needs to be changed as every human being should be treated equally with equal rights and opportunities.

Women in India as well as many countries are not treated equally in terms of education, health, social status, opportunities, and legal rights. Many people still believe that educating a girl is not necessary and families refrain from investing financially in the education of girls. There are many barriers a girl has to face in terms of education like poverty, child marriage and early pregnancy, violence, etc.

At Workplaces also, the majority of women face discrimination in India as they miss out on a raise, promotion, or other work offers. Women who have the flexibility of working from home, face barriers including lack of time and discrimination for family care. In many places, women have to face workplace discrimination because of household responsibilities, and family responsibilities also come in the way of their careers.
