How To Kick-start SBI PO Preparation

Understand The Competition

As we said above, the competition for SBI PO will be a huge and more than 25 lakh candidates are expected this year. Aspirants should not get nervous because of the number of applicants, because the actual aspirants will be less than one lakh. Most of the candidates apply for SBI PO just to try their luck with an attempt. So understand the competition and start preparing for the exam.

Analyse The Syllabus

The recruitment notification has just mentioned the name of the subjects which are going to be included in the preliminary and main examinations. They have not elaborated the topics that are going to be covered. It means, you should know what all topics are going to be covered individually in each section. Many preparation guides have done this for you. However, we suggest you do this too, to earn a command on the boundaries of the syllabus.

Take A Diagnostic Test

Prior to any competitive examination, one should know where they stands in order to kick-start the preparations. If you lack in reasoning, your preparation should be more on this area. At least two or three diagnostic tests are required to understand the areas you need to improve in.

Get All The Study Materials

After taking the diagnostic test, gather all the study material including the previous years' question papers. We suggest you subscribe to online mock tests also. Almost all the major publications are fine and your preparations should be focused only on the books you have chosen. Don't get tempted to refer to any new books after a course of time.

Analyse Previous Years' Questions Papers

The preparations for any competitive entrance examination should start by analysing the previous years' question papers. This will provide all the inputs on question format, exam pattern and difficulty of the questions.

Make A Timetable

The first focus should be on drafting a timetable prior to the preparations. Hardly, two months left for SBI PO and your timetable should cover both preliminary and main written examinations. If you are working full-time, you should manage time effectively.

Subject-wise Preparation

After completing all the activities, the stage is set for the preparations now. A subject-wise preparation is suggested rather than covering important topics because more than two months are there for the examination. Give more importance to the preliminary examination because this is conducted for elimination purpose. And only ten times the number of vacancies will be qualified for the next stage of the selection process - main examination.
