Education Qualification of Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar: From Osmania Medical College to US Medical Training

Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani is among the prominent political leaders in India with a strong academic and professional background in medicine. Before entering active politics and becoming a Union Minister, he built his career as a doctor, educator, and entrepreneur in the United States.

His educational journey reflects a transition from medical education in India to advanced clinical training in the US.

Schooling and Early Academic Background

Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani was born on March 7, 1976, in Burripalem village of Andhra Pradesh. He spent part of his childhood in Narasaraopet, where he completed his early education. Reports indicate that he completed Class 10 in 1991 and Intermediate education in 1993 before preparing for medical entrance examinations.

His academic performance during this stage became an important turning point in his career.

Cracked EAMCET and Entered Medical Education

With the aim of becoming a doctor, Pemmasani appeared for the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET), one of the competitive entrance examinations for medical admissions.

According to official and profile records, he secured 27th rank among nearly 60,000 candidates, earning admission into medical studies.

He later joined Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, where he pursued his undergraduate medical degree.

MBBS Degree from Osmania Medical College

Pemmasani completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Osmania Medical College. His MBBS qualification is recognised under Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and was completed in 1999.

This phase marked the beginning of his medical career before moving abroad for higher training.

Postgraduate Medical Training in the United States

After completing MBBS in India, Pemmasani moved to the United States for advanced medical education.

He completed postgraduate residency training in Internal Medicine at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania, and completed the programme in 2005, according to publicly available records and election disclosures.

During his postgraduate years, he reportedly represented Pennsylvania in a national medical knowledge competition for two consecutive years and achieved strong board examination performance.

Academic and Professional Career After Education

Following his medical training, Pemmasani worked as an attending physician associated with Johns Hopkins University and Sinai Hospital for around five years, where he was involved in teaching residents and medical students.

He later founded UWorld⁠, an educational technology and test-preparation platform widely used by students preparing for professional licensing examinations.
