Eligibility

Many institutes and colleges in India offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in environmental science. After class 12, one can opt for BSc or BE in environmental science. The duration of the course is three years. One can also opt for a postgraduate course in environmental science with a three-year bachelor's degree.

Students who have three years bachelor's degree in science subjects can pursue master's in environmental science. Along with bachelor's, many institutes and colleges across the country also offer short-term postgraduate diploma programs in environmental science.

Aspirants who want to be an environmental engineer should have scored at least 50% marks in 10+2 with mathematics, physics and chemistry as mandatory subjects. Candidates have to qualify in JEE for an admission to one of the IITs. A state-level examination is required for an admission to regional institutes.

The NITs and IITs across India are the most popular institutes for MTech programs in environmental engineering. Candidates can choose MTech courses based on their GATE score. Students can also opt for the MPhil and PhD in environmental science.
