The recruitment notification was issued for a total of 800 vacancies. The probationary officers recruitment will be available on successful completion of specially designed Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance (PGDBF) course.

Canara Bank PO Exam Pattern

The selection of the candidates will be based on the online objective test followed by the group discussion and an interview. The online objective test will be conducted through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The tentative date for the online test is December 12, 2018.

The online objective test comprises of four sections namely reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English language and general awareness. Each section consists of 50 questions and carries 50 marks. The duration of the exam is two hours. The penalty for the wrong answer is 0.25 marks.

This section deals with the topics such as arrangement & pattern, coding & decoding, classification, inequalities, syllogisms, machine input output, data sufficiency, blood relations, analytical decision making & verbal reasoning, linear seating arrangement, circular seating arrangement, scheduling, double lineup and ordering & ranking.

The general awareness section deals with topics such as financial/banking awareness, current affairs, static general knowledge and economy.

The marks allotted for group discussion and for interview are 50 each. The qualifying marks in group discussion and personal interview should not be less than 40% for general candidates. However, the percentage is relaxed for reserved categories. The weightage for the online test, group discussion and personal interview shall be in the ratio of 50:20:30, respectively. The final merit will be based on the performance in the online test, group discussion and an interview.
