Educational Qualification of Bhupender Yadav

According to official parliamentary records, Bhupender Yadav holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Government College, Ajmer, Rajasthan. His legal education laid the foundation for his career as an advocate before he entered active politics.

His academic background in law has been reflected throughout his parliamentary career, particularly in his involvement with legislative committees examining constitutional amendments, anti-corruption laws, insolvency reforms, financial legislation and judicial matters.

Early Life

Bhupender Yadav was born on June 30, 1969, in Ajmer, Rajasthan, to Shri Kadam Singh and Late Smt. Santra Devi. He is married to Babita Yadav, and the couple has two daughters. Although born in Rajasthan, his permanent address is listed as Farukhnagar, Jamalpur, Gurugram (Haryana) in official records.

Before entering full-time politics, he established himself as a practising advocate, gaining expertise in legal and constitutional matters.

Political Career

A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bhupender Yadav has played an important role in both the organisation and Parliament.

He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan in April 2012 and secured a second term in April 2018. During his tenure in the Upper House, he served on numerous parliamentary committees and chaired several important Select and Joint Committees dealing with significant pieces of legislation.

His committee assignments included the Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, Committee on Public Accounts, Business Advisory Committee, Committee on Commerce, Committee on Home Affairs, Committee on Industry, Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, and several others.

Bhupender Yadav also chaired parliamentary committees that examined key legislations such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, the Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, the Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill, the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, and amendments relating to the Constitution and other major laws.

In July 2021, he was inducted into the Union Council of Ministers as Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, while also holding the Labour and Employment portfolio.

Following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bhupender Yadav was elected to the 18th Lok Sabha and, on June 9, 2024, took oath as the Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the new government.
