The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has issued a key notification for students appearing in the Higher Secondary (Class 12) 2026 examinations, covering updates on the admit card release, exam procedures and paper-related guidelines. The 2026 board exams are scheduled to be held from 12 February to 27 February 2026, and WBCHSE has clarified important details ahead of this critical assessment period.

Admit Card Release Date and Distribution
WBCHSE has confirmed that the admit cards for Semester IV (final exams) and Semester III (supplementary exams) will be available for schools to download from the official council portal. Institutional heads can access and print the hall tickets using their login credentials and must distribute them to students before the exams commence.
The board has revised the admit card issuance schedule, with the updated release date set for 28 January 2026. No student will be allowed to sit in the examination hall without a valid admit card, so students and schools are advised to collect and verify the same well ahead of the exam dates.
Exam Day Timings and Paper Protocols
WBCHSE's notice also includes procedural guidelines for the 2026 HS exams:
- Exam Dates: 12 February to 27 February 2026
- Mode: Pen-and-paper format across West Bengal
- Extra Time: Students will receive an additional 10 minutes before the start of each paper to read the question booklet or fill in personal details.
For the Sanskrit paper, the board has clarified that students appearing for the Part 2 section (including short-answer questions, verses and visual poetry) can answer Question 2 in any of three languages; Sanskrit, Bengali or English, offering some flexibility in expression and comprehension.
Textbooks & Preparation Resources
In addition to scheduling updates, WBCHSE has made certain textbooks available for students preparing for the 2026 examinations. Titles such as Business Mathematics and Business Statistics (BMBS) and Basic Mathematics for Social Sciences (BMSS) can be collected from the Book Mart at Vidyasagar Bhavan from 22 January 2026 onwards.
Students are encouraged to ensure that they have the latest official textbooks and materials as they finalise their board preparation in the weeks leading up to the exams.
What Students Should Do Next
- Check admit card details carefully once received from school; verify name, subjects, exam centre and timings.
- Follow the official WBCHSE portal for any further updates or corrections.
Prepare for the exam schedule while factoring in the additional reading time provided in the notice.
With boards around the corner, this notice aims to keep Class 12 students and schools aligned with official timelines and exam procedures. WBCHSE's updates ensure clarity on admit card distribution, flexible question-language options for Sanskrit, exam timings, and textbooks release, helping learners approach their HS exams with confidence.
