A few abbreviations that CBSE uses consistently for results and mark sheets have been implemented, just like in prior years. Here is the meaning of the acronyms (symbols) on CBSE Marksheet 2024:
RT: Repeat Theory is referred to as RT. It should be noted by students that they must receive at least 33% in each of the theory and practical exams taken independently. A student will receive RT if they do not receive the necessary 33% of the possible points on the theory paper. As and when the compartment exams are held, students are able to show up for these theory papers as well.
RW: RW means that the result was withheld. Please be advised, students, that this does not imply that they have not received a promotion. This year, before being made public, the results were tallied by the schools and sent to the board for confirmation. If a student receives RW, it can be because of an error in their records or because they have defaulted at the school. It is suggested that students get in touch with their schools about this.
RL: In 2020, a new acronym was introduced: RL Result Later. The Board may use this acronym if a student's data has not been submitted or if there has been an error. Then, pupils won't have to worry if it is displayed. Approaching their schools is the best course of action.
COMP: Comp is the abbreviation for Compartment. Any student who does not have an aggregate score of 33% across all five subjects can get a COMP in any one subject. This implies that the student must show up for the subject's compartment exams at the scheduled time. Until they pass their compartment exam, none of these pupils will be deemed to have passed.
XXXX: It is used for correction. Students who appear for more than five subjects but receive less than 33 percent in the sixth subject are entitled to receive it. Please take note that in addition to receiving their certificate and being declared passed, the student has the option to retake the indicated topic to raise their score. The exam is optional, and students are free to choose whether or not to show up.
ER: The CBSE implemented ER, which stands for Essential Reappear, in 2020. Nowadays, the board uses ER instead of FAIL. The board introduced a new evaluation process this year; students who received ER are urged to contact their school and be patient. The Board may offer a second chance to take the exam with a unique paper that will be administered.
Additional acronyms include NE means Not Eligible), NR stands for Not Registered), and ABST means Absent. UFM is the abbreviation of Unfair Means Measurement. UFM is not applicable this year because the exams have been administered recently.
