Bihar Board Class 12 Intermediate Exams 2026 Begin Today; 13 Lakh Students to Appear

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has commenced the Class 12 (Intermediate) Annual Examinations 2026 from 2 February 2026, with around 13.17 lakh students set to appear across the state. This year, the board has put in place strict guidelines and security measures to ensure a fair and smooth conduct of the examinations.

Massive Participation Across the State

According to official figures, approximately 13.17 lakh candidates; including 6,75,844 girls and 6,42,002 boys are registered to appear for the BSEB Class 12 exams this year. The examinations are being conducted at 1,762 exam centres statewide.

Exam Schedule & Format

The Intermediate board exams are scheduled to be held from 2 February to 13 February 2026. BSEB has arranged for the papers to be conducted in two daily shifts:

  • Morning Shift: 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM

Candidates are advised to check their BSEB Intermediate admit cards and reach their allotted centres well ahead of the reporting time.

Strict Exam Day Guidelines in Place

The Bihar board has implemented several rules to maintain the integrity and discipline of the examination process:

  • Students must reach the exam centres well in advance.
  • Gate closure rules are being strictly enforced; no late entry will be permitted beyond the specified cut-off time.
  • A two-level frisking and verification process has been put in place to prevent the use of unfair means.
  • Mobile phones, smart electronic devices and unauthorized materials are strictly banned inside examination halls.

In addition, BSEB has set up control rooms and helplines to address any issues that candidates or parents may face during the examination period.

Zero Tolerance Policy on Malpractice

Board authorities, including BSEB chairman Anand Kishore, have reiterated a zero-tolerance stance on malpractice. Candidates found attempting to engage in irregular practices, including illegal entry or use of prohibited devices, may face strict disciplinary actions, including potential bans or FIRs.

With Class 12 board exams underway, students are reminded to:

  • Recheck the exam timetable and centre details on their admit card.
  • Carry valid identification and the admit card to the exam centre.
  • Avoid carrying prohibited items to avoid disqualification.
  • Manage time wisely during the examination and follow all board instructions.
