Youth Spiritual Summit, Varanasi

Inaugurated on 19th July 2025 by Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.

Theme: 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' (Drug-Free Youth for Developed India).

Organized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Raji Tribe

Context:

In Khetar Kanyal village, Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district, the absence of a female candidate for village head reflects challenges within the Raji tribal community.

Key Points:

The Raji tribe is a small indigenous community primarily found in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and parts of western Nepal.

They are one of the smallest tribes in India and classified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG).

Also known as Banrawats, Ben-Manus, and cave dwellers, the community traditionally lived as forest dwellers and cave inhabitants.

Language: Speak the Tibeto-Burman language Bat-Kha.

Livelihood: Traditionally gatherers (honey, fishing, hunting), many have shifted towards agriculture cultivating rice, maize, and barley, along with handicrafts like weaving and basketry.

Religion: Worship Hindu gods and nature.

Social Structure: Organized into clans with elders playing crucial roles in decision-making; community panchayats maintain harmony and resolve conflicts.

Housing: Traditional homes are made of wood, stone, and mud, built on elevated platforms to withstand harsh climatic conditions and protect from floods and wild animals.
