As the nation's population of cancer patients grows, so does the significance of this day, which promotes awareness, early detection, and prevention of cancer in India.

Dr Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman Birth Anniversary: Every year on November 7, the birth anniversary of Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, also known as CV Raman, is celebrated. On November 7, 1888, he was born in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He received a gold medal at the age of 16 after dominating his undergraduate degree exams at the University of Madras.
Later on, he graduated with the highest honour from the same university. For his research on light scattering and the Raman effect, CV Raman was awarded the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics. In 1954, he received the Bharat Ratna, which is India's highest civilian honour.
