PM Modi calls for “One nation one police uniform”
PM also advocated for ‘multi-storey police stations, with the ground floor functioning as a police station while the rest serving as residences for police personnel. If implemented, this might solve the problem of policemen staying far away from cities and families. The Prime Minister also appealed to the police to avoid using old vehicles as per the government’s scrapping policy.
Policing is a State subject and states have the right to decide on what uniform the state police must adorn. Modi, however, wants states to think about it.
PM Modi said these things while addressing a ‘Chintan Shivir’ of Home Ministers and DGPs of States in Faridabad via video conferencing
