IIT Madras Offers International Interdisciplinary Master’s Programme, Check Details

The International Interdisciplinary Master's degrees are available in 9 areas including Energy Systems, Quantum Science and Technology, Robotics, and others.

The International Interdisciplinary Master's Programme has been launched by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in the presence of Institute Director Professor V Kamakoti and Deepak Karanjikar, Chairman, Finance Committee, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on April 04, 2022.

According to the institute, the International Interdisciplinary Master's degrees are available in 9 areas including Energy Systems, Quantum Science and Technology, Robotics, Computational Engineering, Data Science, Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, Cyber-Physical Systems, Biomedical Engineering, and Complex Systems and Dynamics.

The launch event was attended by delegates from the consulates of Sri Lanka, Japan, France, the United States, and Bangladesh, according to a statement released by IIT Madras.

IIT Madras stated it is reaching out to students from all around the world, with a focus on growing enrolment from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.

"Delegations from IIT Madras visited Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and saw a lot of interest and questions from students about this programme. Nepal will be visited by a delegation later this week," it added.

IIT Madras International Interdisciplinary Master's Programme: Eligibility

According to the official notice, "IIT Madras master's degrees require a 4+ year undergraduate degree, and demonstrated competence in English. International candidates who will qualify for the award of the Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or Master's degree in Science by July 2022 are eligible to apply for admission to the I2MP programme in the current year."

The application deadline for the interdisciplinary degree is April 15, 2022. Students interested in applying can do so through https://ge.iitm.ac.in/I2MP/.

Scholarships will be awarded to deserving international students who register for these programmes, according to the institute.
