IIT Delhi Introduces New Postgraduate Programme ‘Master of Public Policy’

The IIT Delhi has introduced a new postgraduate programme called the ‘Master of Public Policy (MPP)’. The registration process for the programme will begin from the forthcoming academic session 2021-22.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has introduced a new postgraduate programme called the 'Master of Public Policy (MPP)'. The registration process for the programme will begin from the forthcoming academic session 2021-22. Science, technology, innovation, and development will be the emphasis of the MPP. The School of Public Policy (SPP) at IIT Delhi will be offering the programme.

In an official release, the IIT stated, "The goal of this new programme is to provide multidisciplinary training to students from varied backgrounds in order to transform them into top-quality policy professionals and policy researchers."

According to IIT-Delhi, the curriculum would focus on enhancing students' critical thinking, ethical behaviours, and analytical abilities. Students who complete the course will be able to pursue careers as consultants, researchers, and academics at the local, regional, national, and worldwide levels.

Prof Ambuj Sagar, Head of the School of Public Policy at IIT Delhi, stated of the new programme, "We are really thrilled to introduce this new curriculum. It is India's first programme of its kind, with an emphasis on science, technology, innovation (STI), and development. We believe it will help students understand and contribute to how STI might better handle developmental difficulties, the importance of which cannot be emphasised and will only expand with time. While of course, the students would have the opportunity to participate in the larger, rich academic environment of IIT Delhi. Overall, we believe that this will be an interesting and one-of-a-kind learning experience for the students."

Students seeking admission to the two-year MPP programme must have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. The candidates having a postgraduate degree may also apply. Sponsored candidates from various sectors, academics, and government groups may also apply for admission to the 'Master of Public Policy' programme.
