How to become a Medical Lab Technician?

A person who is interested in medical field and its research possibilities can opt for the Medical Lab Technology course. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is the course done by Medical Lab Technicians to perform lab research. It is also known as Clinical laboratory science and is an allied health profession which is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease through the use of clinical laboratory tests.

A medical lab technician helps a physician by performing research that helps in prevention and diagnosis of diseases.

These tests help doctors to detect, diagnose and treat diseases. A Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) does these tests by analyzing body fluids, tissues, blood typing, microorganism screening, chemical analyses, cell counts of human body etc. They play an important role in collecting the required information, sampling, testing, reporting and documentation of these investigations.

These technicians determine the presence, extent or absence of disease and provide data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. There are two levels of medical laboratory workers - Technicians and Technologists.
