IIT Madras to offer a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Systems

On March 6, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Systems programme at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. The programme will be launched virtually by the minister. The BS degree programme will begin at 11 a.m. The launch of the latest BS programme will be broadcasted live on YouTube.

IIT Madras to offer a BS in Electrical Systems

IIT Madras is offering a BS degree programme in Electronic Systems to fulfil India's substantial and increasing requirement for skilled people in the electronics and integrated technology industries. The institute stated that this is the institute's second BS programme, following the BS programme in data science and applications. It mentioned that 17,000 students will be enrolled in the first BS programme. The new four-year curriculum will assist the nation in addressing the growing need for competent students in the electronics and integrated primary industries.

Students who achieve the required minimum marks in the entrance test can continue with the programme because the number of places in the BS in Electronic Systems programme is not restricted. Throughout the course, students will receive recorded lectures, weekly examinations, study materials, seminars, and engaging question-and-answer discussions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Everybody obtaining a Class 12 (or similar) diploma, regardless of age, role, or geographical region, is eligible to apply.
  • School students who have completed their Class 11 final examinations (with Physics and Mathematics as subjects of study) are eligible to apply.
  • Individuals who have completed Class 12 can apply to IIT Madras for the BS in Electronic Systems degree. The syllabus is designed for learners and employed folks of all ages to allow them to learn at IIT Madras without having to write the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), claims the institute.
  • A student who has qualified for JEE Advanced 2022 or 2023 is instantly qualified to be admitted and can enroll for classes in the foundation level of the BS programme

Admission Fees

IIT Madras stated that the fee structure would be reasonable. Students from the SC/ST/PWD categories, as well as those with a household income of less than Rs.5 lakh per year, would be qualified for additional scholarships from the institute. Details on the entire fee structure are yet forthcoming.
