Yogi Vemana University College of Engineering, Proddatur was established in 2008.

YSR Engineering College of Yogi Vemana University, Proddatur was established during the academic year 2008-2009 as a constituent college to Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa to cater to the needs and dreams of rural students of Rayalaseema in particular and Andhra Pradesh in general. It offers six conventional disciplines of Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy and Material Technology. Proddatur is a commercial centre with proximity to Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant (RTPP), India Cements, Bharathi Cements, Dalmia Cements etc. It is a mineral rich area and development in technical education can be accelerated only with the involvement of industry. The upcoming industries would increase the employment potential in and around Kadapa leading to the overall development of the region.

At present 12 Regular faculty members and 53 academic consultants and 25 supporting staff are working in the college. All faculty are well qualified, among them 10 members possess Ph.D degree and rest of them are with M.Tech qualification. On the academic front some of our faculty brought laurels to the college as well as to the University by publishing quality research papers in reputed national and international journals.
