The Government of Telangana, the first state in the country to realize the need to enhance the intellectual resources as adopted the policy of encouraging philanthropic organizations to establish and manage technical institutions. As a consequence of such a policy decision, Warangal Institute of Technology and Science, popularly known as WITS, was established at Warangal in the academic year 2009, by eminent professionals with two decades of experience in imparting engineering education.
