U.G.Mahavidyalaya, Khamar was established in 1984.

Initially started as an intermediate Arts College in the auspices of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Uchha Vidyapeetha, the institution was soon shifted to its present location surrounded by sal and mahua trees giving an air of a gurukul ashram.

The Degree classes were started in the year 1984 and the college got affiliated to the Utkal University.

In the year 1994, the college got recognition by the UGC and became eligible to receive grants under sections 2f and 12b.

The intermediate Science classes were also started in the same year.

The college is now a growing institution having a girl’s hostel and a well furnished library with facilities of self financing computer courses.

The College also enjoys the opportunity if teaching honours subjects on History and Political Science.
