Tirunelveli Medical College (TMC), Tirunalveli was established in 1965.

The college is affiliated to Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Tamil Nadu.

The College is recogniced by Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi.

The College and hospital are located in an extensive area of about 350 acres of land at High Ground in Palayamkottai, the twin city of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu State of India.

The local people as well as those from nearby places refer this hospital as the Highground Hospital.

The college and hospital are funded and managed by Government of Tamil Nadu.

The hospital has the bed strength of 1078 with almost all special departments with necessary facilities like the Colour Doppler, Ultra Sound Scan, CT Scan and Dialysis Unit and with recent inclusion of 800 MA & IIT (Image Intensifier TV).
