Thanjavur Medical College (TMC), Thanjavur was established in 1959.

The College is affiliated to Dr MGR University, TamilNadu. The College is recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi.

The College was inaugurated by the first Indian President, Dr Rajendra Prasad in 1958.

The college campus covers an area of approximately 1 km2 and located on the western edge of Thanjavur town.

The Thanjavur Medical College Hospital is situated in the southern edge of the campus.

A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to the Students.
