Thai Moogambigai Dental College and Hospital, Chennai was established in 1991, by Tmt Kannammal Educational Trust, has been upgraded to the status of deemed university.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the Deemed University Status to Thai Moogambigai Dental College and Hospital from January 2003. in the name of Dr.MGR Educational and Research Institute (Dr.MGR Deemed University).

There main objective of establishing the Dr. MGR Group of Colleges is to create centers of excellence to impart knowledge and the latest information in various fields among students and to be of help to the weaker sections of the society.
