Talchar College,was established in 1969.

Its affiliated to Utkal University.

This became possible for the untiring and selfless efforts of some of the important personalities of Talcher. Later on, the college got Govt.concurrence and University affiliation for Intermediate in Arts (IA) from the session 1970-71.

From then onwards much water has flown down the river Brahmani and with it the college has grown into a full fledged degree college in Arts, Science and Commerce.

This college is well equipped with very competent and experienced teaching and non-teaching supporting staff for which the NAAC (UGC) assessed the college and accredited it with B+ grade.

The IGNOU authorities chose Talcher College as a Special study Centre in 2005 considering the demand of the local people and the infrastructure of the college in maintaining the study centre.

The College provides for development of the personality of a student by offering services like NCC (for both boys and girls), NSS, Youth Red Cross, Scout and Guide, Career Counseling Cell .
