St. Joseph's Academy of Higher Education and Research, Idukki is a noble venture of the CMI St. Joseph Province, Kottayam functioning in the backward district of Idukki.

The college is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it endeavors to fill a long felt void created by the absence of an institution in the district to provide quality education in sports and games and the much sought after new generation programmes such as BCA, BA Animation and B.Com with Computer Application.

Drawing inspiration from St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the CMI congregation, who spearheaded a reformist movement in the Kerala society in the 19th century which was instrumental in ushering in an era of universal education in the State and self rule for the Kerala Catholic Church, the institution labours to mould a young generation which is resourceful, self-reliant, responsible and committed to the task of nation-building ever upholding the heritage of the nation.
