In 1951, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, commonly known as SGTB Khalsa College, was established. It is one of the constituent colleges of University of Delhi and maintained by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), a statutory body established under an act of the Parliament of India.

The college runs co-educational courses as per the norms and conditions of University of Delhi, New Delhi and it was recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.41 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 5th November 2016.

On April 29, 2015, the college was also recognized and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi to offer four years Engineering courses in Computer Science and Electronic Science specializations.

SGTB Khalsa College is situated on the North campus of the university and was named after Ninth Guru - Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, who sacrificed his life to uphold secular values, and is an institution with the experienced environment and progressive outlook.

Almost from past 4-6 years, the college has carved a niche for itself in the field of higher education and to be known as one of the leading colleges of the university.

At present, the college offers 18 undergraduate, 2 B.Tech., 12 postgraduate, 1 postgraduate diploma, 2 undergraduate diplomas, and 9 certificate courses, making a total of 44 courses with various specializations.

For few UG courses are under Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS) and PG courses are under Credit and Semester System (CSS) of the affiliating university. Therefore, the students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

The college follows the university curricula and its faculty members contribute to curricula framing both at University and UGC levels. The norms & conditions of the university for admission to various courses are followed.

  • The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
