State Institute of Science Education Jabalpur was popularly known as State Institute of Science Education & College of Teacher Education Jabalpur was established on 1st November 1966 and managed by Rajya Vigyan Shikshan Sansthan which was work under (State Council of Educational Research and Training) M.P. Bhopal.

It is one of the premier institute established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The institute is affiliated with Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 23rd July 2014 under Act, 1956. 

It is also recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal & Govt. of Madhya Pradesh (M.P.) to offer B.Ed. & M.Ed. courses.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (in 1st Cycle) on 5th November 2016.

The main aim of the institute is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Jabalpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The institute was transferred from Bhopal to Jabalpur on June 1968 and in the year 2013 it was awarded by the status of College of Teacher Education and from then it is known as State Institute of Science Education and College of Teacher Education Jabalpur M.P.

The institute is working in the field of the popularization of Science and Mathematics Education since last 40 years. Also, students are motivated by providing a scholarship.

The Institute was established vide the order of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India New Delhi for qualitative improvement in Science and mathematics education in the state.

The institute also received the many achievements awards in the field of Teacher Training at Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) courses for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The institute offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The institute has collaborated with HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education Mumbai) and has the coordinator to conduct the Mathematics Olympiad in M.P. various national and state level seminars and workshops are organized by the institute time to time.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and various other examinations are held in the institute premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
