Sri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women was established in 2005 by Sri Swetambar Stanakwasi Jain Educational Society (Regd).

The aim of Sri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women is to provide quality education to young aspiring women candidates and to equip them to meet the changing needs of the society and industry.

Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women has been recognized as premier institution of higher learning for women. A centre for academic excellence and achievement, it is today one of the finest institutions for Sciences, Humanities and commerce affiliated to the University of Madras.

The College has a rich legacy. Established in 2005, with a generous contribution made by Smt.Sundarbai Shankarlal Charitable Trust, T. Nagar, Chennai of the SHASUN Family and Group, the institution provides a unique opportunity to young women for quality higher education. In this, they were abetted by the founders, who were independent minded with a deep concern for quality of education they wished to impart. These attributes of total dedication have contributed in a large measure to the position of distinction occupied by the college. The College management is committed to creating an atmosphere in which the zest for learning thrives and students are trained not only academically but also to be women of convictions and values. All programmes are student-centred, providing ample opportunity for the development of leadership and self-assurance.
